CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ,a warrior saint.

There are a few people who change the course of history.Chhatrapati Shivaji is no doubt one among them. Before Shivaji Maharaj the history of Hindus is full of defeats.Hindu warrior kings fought very bravely, but they were defeated by the enemies of Hinduism.

In the middle of seventh century, king Dahir of Sindh was attacked by Mohammad bin kasim.Dahir fought very bravely, but lost the war.In 1191 Mahmud Gauri attacked Delhi,he was defeated by the then king Prithvi Raj Chauhan. The king didn't kill him but forgave him and let him go.The very next year Gauri again attacked the King.Though Prithvi Raj Chauhan was very brave warrior and he with his great army fought back very bravely, but was defeated. The same Gauri, who was forgiven by the king killed him ruthlessly. That was the beginning of anti Hindu rule in India.

Chhatrapati was born at a time when India was ruled by anti Hindu forces.Being a Hindu was a crime enough to be humiliated and to be killed. They did not have the freedom to practice their religion openly. The then ruler of India,Aurangzeb was so perversely anti idol worshiping that he enjoyed destroying Hindu temples and idols.Shivaji Maharaj was annoyed with these circumstances.Very cleverly he started forming an army and began to take over forts from anti Hindu forces. He fought bravely and won the battles. Many times he took the help of gurillah wars also.He never hesitated to kill his enemies.Afzal Khan is a great example. Finally Shivaji formed a small but strong empire, which stopped the never ending rise of anti Hindu forces.Wherever shivaji conquered a fort or built a new fort ,he built a temple also there. This is not the only proof of his being religious. He ruled like a father to his people. His army contained people from Hindus and Muslims.People from all the so called lower castes were in his army.He gave his people the liberty to follow their religious paths.Shivaji ruled like a trustee.

The credit for the downfall of anti Hindu forces goes to Maharaj. He saved India and Hindus.Poet Bhushan has said-"Kashi ki kala jati,Mathura me masjid hoti, agar na hote Shiva to sunnat hoti sabki"

Four steps to God realization

In Tantra there is a shloka-UTTAMO BRAHMA SADBHAV MADHYAMA DHYAN DHARANA,JAPASTUTISYADADHAMA MURTIPUJADHADHAMA.It literally means-feeling oneself as Brahman is best, meditating is mediocre, chanting and prayers are lower and idol worshiping is lowest in nature. As i understand this shloka,it just describes the four stages to God realisation. On spiritual path one starts with idol worshipping, then he starts chanting some mantra, then meditating and at last he feels that he/she has become God.That is Brahma sadbhav. One can't just leap to that stage.                               No stage is superior or inferior. They are just stages through which a seeker passes.Without going through the first stage,if one will just try to be in Samadhi, s/he won't get any real success. If you have not gone through idol worshiping you won't be able to realize the formlessness of God.You will just become a hypocrite.Like followers of some religions who say they don't believe in idol worshipin

Introduction On 5th November 2010, a novel educational program, ‘Spotlight on Hinduism’ concluded successfully at the Drake Tech Centre in Fort Collins. Food and the Dharma

In modern Hinduism many people give too much stress on the food. They say certain things should be eaten while certain things are never to be eaten, then only you are a true Hindu. In my view your food makes hardly an effect on being your Hindu. It’s your personal matter that what you eat and what you don’t eat.Yes,certainly food makes an effect on your mental state, not more.If you take vegetarian food,it helps to keep your mind calm. But only vegetarian food is not going to help you attain enlightenment. If vegetarian food could get you enlightenment, then all the vegetarian animals would have got enlightenment.I am not saying that take non- vegetarian food.Again i will repeat that it’s your personal choice what to eat or what not to eat. The important thing on the path of Dharma is Sadhana or spiritual practice.Whatever you eat ,if you do spiritual practice, you will attain enlightenment sooner than later.
